Butterscotch makes A$AP Mob Birthday Cakes

With having just opened our bakery site in White City place, Butterscotch was handed a once in lifetime opportunity this week - to make A$AP Rocky and A$AP Lou's birthday cakes!

If you're a hip-hop head then you already know A$AP Rocky (of A$AP Mob) is kind of a big deal. He's an American rapper, songwriter and record producer who's had worldwide success with hits such as 'Problems', 'Fashion Killa', and 'L$D'. Also part of the A$AP Mob is A$AP Lou who is one half of the DJ duo - 'The Cozy Boys'.

We were so excited to receive a request to bake these lad's birthday cakes and with a tight deadline to meet, we jumped straight into making two epic cakes of very different styles; closely reflecting the artistic individuality of the two men.

For A$AP Lou's cake, we stayed in keeping with the cartoony vibe of 'Cozy Boys' logo and fashioned a red velvet cake in the shape of a pair of slippers! They were lined with candy floss to mimic the fluffy material typically found in a pair of comfy slippers. The slippers were placed on a board topped with fondant icing and fondant icing clouds. The end result looked cozy indeed!

A$AP Rocky and A$AP Lou's birthday cakes from Butterscotch London

A$AP Rocky's cake was a huge three-tier red velvet cake covered in chocolate glaze and brushed with gold lustre. To really bring the cake to life, it was decorated with hundreds of blue butterflies made of rice paper. The butterflies were inspired by A$AP Mob's 12 minute music video for 'Money Man/Put that on my set' which was recorded and shot in London, featuring UK grime artist - Skepta.

We hope A$AP Rocky, A$AP Lou and their partygoers had as much fun eating the cake as we had creating them! If you're after a bespoke cake that not only looks heavenly but TASTES heavenly too - contact us!
